Regeneron is a leading biotechnology company based in Tarrytown, New York that invents, develops, and commercializes life-transforming medicines for people with serious diseases. Founded and led for 35 years by physician-scientists, Regeneron’s unique ability to repeatedly and consistently translate science into medicine has led to numerous FDA-approved treatments and product candidates in development, almost all of which were homegrown in Regeneron’s laboratories. Regeneron’s medicines and pipeline are designed to help patients with eye diseases, allergic and inflammatory diseases, cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, pain, hematologic conditions, infectious diseases, and rare diseases.
In 2021, Regeneron entered into a partnership with auticon through our project services engagement model, with the goal of forming a team of data stewards to tackle a major data segmentation project. The data stewards from auticon hold the critical responsibility of verifying the accuracy and reliability of the data, which is critical to the business process.
The data validation process requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to sustain focus while working on repetitive tasks. This process is uniquely suited to the strengths of our team of autistic technologists on the project, who not only posses the cognitive skills but also tend to prefer this type of work.
“Our data is central to everything we do at Regeneron, from developing new ideas to ensuring the safety and efficacy of the medicines we deliver. The auticon team is responsible for researching and validating critical data used by our commercial teams to ensure we engage with the right providers and specialists, and to ensure we remain in compliance with regulatory policies. We appreciate being able to count on auticon to help us rise to the unique challenges of data, compliance, and innovation.”
-Bob McCowan, SVP & CIO, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
“I’m proud of our work with auticon because we’re so aligned on taking a strengths-based approach to inclusion in the workplace. They’ve helped us drive business value and ensure we’re truly operating in ways that work for everyone.”
-Smita Pillai, Chief DE&I Officer, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
“Our healthcare partners count on us every day, and we take that very seriously. Our partnership with auticon helps us ensure we can support our critical commercial business processes in a compliant manner.”
-Thomas Hannigan, Executive Director, Commercial IT, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals
The success of the project has led to robust growth in our partnership. Since 2021, the cohort of data stewards has continued to expand, with all stewards consistently receiving positive feedback. Additionally, Regeneron has now engaged an auticon technologist on its Cybersecurity team, signaling the potential for autistic professionals to thrive in multiple roles across the company.
