A couple of years ago, Futur began implementing AI across its core systems. For Mattias Forsberg, CIO, having that expertise in-house was essential:
“When we get really good at using AI, we will dramatically improve our ability to bring new products and services to the market.”
One major challenge is to stay up to date with what different AI models can do, and how they work together. Mattias already had a positive experience from collaborating with auticon, an IT solutions provider exclusively employing consultants with autism.
When Simon was introduced at a meeting, it was clear he was the right fit.
“Simon is a fantastic person with a real passion for AI”, says Mattias. “He is also very communicative with the ability to share his knowledge.”
Simon is now part of a team optimising Futur’s core system through AI integration. An equally important part of his role is driving AI adoption across the organisation.
“You can get a lot done in a short time”, says Simon. “But it also puts pressure on the organisation’s ability to transform their systems and workflows. I’m thankful for Futur’s willingness to adapt quickly.”
With a background in software development and philosophy, he has followed AI development and the companies behind different models for a long time. He pivoted to AI when ChatGPT hit the market. Since then, model interfaces have improved significantly, making them accessible to a much wider audience.
“Now, we can let an AI agent develop the tools, and anyone can work with an AI to create a prototype. It’s overturning the classical development process”, he explains.
Working this way brings great opportunities, but speed and security must stay in balance. It creates a new landscape for developers and others, where humans serve as the business’s experts, while AI agents can do more of the technical work.
The implementation of AI demands precision. When models change on a daily basis and small adjustments can lead to very different outcomes, attention to detail becomes critical. In the conversation with Simon and Mattias, both of them highlight a few characteristics that seem important when working with AI.
“For us, it’s about understanding how a model behaves in different situations,” says Mattias. “If we adjust something here, what happens over there? That level of cause and effect really matters.”
Without claiming to be an expert on neurodiversity, Mattias says this is one reason the collaboration with auticon works so well. Navigating complex AI systems requires sustained focus and the ability to spot even small variations in behaviour.
“Bringing a unique perspective to the business and to the data makes a huge difference,” says Simon. “Critical thinking matters, but so does simply thinking differently. That’s one of my greatest strengths, and I suspect it’s something many of my auticon colleagues share.”
As AI models evolve, so does the way Futur develops and delivers its services. With the right expertise in place, the company is building a foundation that can adapt just as quickly as the technology itself.
