Vattenfall is a major European energy company operating across multiple countries. Their data center and cloud operations must maintain high reliability, cross‑border coordination, and strong internal IT capabilities.
Vattenfall faced a persistent talent shortage in IT, particularly for roles requiring sustained focus on detailed, repetitive tasks. They needed high‑quality, reliable operators who could integrate into existing teams across borders—and were open to making cultural changes to do so.
Over a five‑year partnership, Unicus (auticon’s Swedish arm) embedded neurodivergent consultants into Vattenfall’s data center and cloud teams. Starting with defined projects and exploratory roles, the engagement evolved into full operational placements. Consultants received onboarding support (e.g. buddy systems) and clear expectations.
Enabled stable long-term employment opportunities for autistic professionals, fostered inclusive culture at scale, and demonstrated that neurodiverse teams can integrate into core operations, not just peripheral roles.
